Simon is a Purratha, a race of cat like creatures. They are known for their speed and deceptive abilities. The Purratha race as a whole has earned the reputation of being untrustworthy as they cannot control their compulsion to steal. A Purratha would rather steal to make their living than work. In fact they are notoriously lazy in most facets of kingdom life. They are bad farmers, soldiers and laborers. If you see a group of them together they spend most of their time drinking and practicing sleight of hand with the intent of thievery. Because of this their society collapsed and the purratha live as the outcast of civil society and are not welcome pretty much anywhere.

King Farnsworth has banned them from his Kingdom, but rumors persist that there is one purratha who is a trusted aid to the King. While this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed there have been reports of a Purratha lurking in the shadows of the city. In fact there was one detailed report of a purratha caught in the act of thievery in a high officials home and when caught he was escorted out of the home by the kings guard and released.

Simon knows this rumor to be true, but he must lurk in the shadows because of the reputation of his race. Simon is a solitary man who was raised by humans as he was left to die in the woods. But as luck would have it he was discovered by a human hunter who held a soft spot in his heart for the weak and abandoned. He could not resist this fury little infant.

Raised by humans he posses few of the weakness of his race, yet he must remain in solitude because few if any will trust him. He once tried to save the son of a merchant in town, but he failed and when the child died he was accused of murder. Only his speed and cunning allowed him to escape the clutches of one of the most ruthless lords in the kingdom of King Farnsworth. But it was his ability to avoid capture that first drew the attention of King Farnsworth.

Simon is an apt hunter and warrior, while circumstances have forced him to hone his natural abilities of thievery. He has an innate sense of honor that has been beaten to a pulp by untrusting humans. Because of this he a dangerous man who has mastered the use of knives and stealth and will strike at you before you have a chance to rip his heart out. Thus the nature of a man many times hurt and abused by humans. In the mind of King Farnsworth the perfect man for a very dark and dangerous assignment.

Akachi is a Human Warrior of unusual size and strength. As a child he was sold into slavery by his parents. They did this reluctantly as a Kingdom Lord was traveling and noticed the strapping youth in a field. He confronted Akachi and demanded that he lead him to his home. When Akachi refused the Lord had him beaten. Akachi withstood the beating with great courage and fortitude. All this did was confirm to the Lord that he had made a excellent choice. Finally Akachi relented and led the Lord to his home.

As they approached his home his mother saw him and ran to aid him. The Lord had two men stand in front of Akachi and block his mother's path. They demanded to speak with Akachi's father. But his father was away on business. So the Lord threw a pouch of gold at his mother and took Akachi. The last Akachi saw of his mother was her throat being slit by one of the Lords guards because she would not except the gold and was fighting to get to her son.

In spite of this brutal start with his new Lord, he was treated better than most of the Lords family. He had the best training and best food. But, Akachi never forget what was done to his mother. Akachi trained hard and grew quickly. It was not long before he was the best and most fearsome fighter in the Lords service.

The Lord had many slaves in his service and as long as they caused him no trouble they were treated very well. Any who did were killed without remorse, so all in the Lords service knew that disobedience or disloyalty was treated quickly and harshly.

Many times the older warriors in the Lords service would head out and then return with great plunder. Akachi was never asked to go on these quests as he was still too young. He never learned the purpose of his servitude. Because one evening he slit the watchman's throat and escaped into the night undetected.

He returned to his family home to find it destroyed and set out on a solitary life. He sold his services to the highest bidder and made his living traveling from town to town. His fame and reputation grew with each year. Until one day he was tracked down by a knight of King Farnsworth's kingdom. Who made him an offer he could not refuse.

Indulf is a child of privilege plain and simple. He is by far the youngest of the team King Farnsworth has assembled and the one with the most mystery surrounding his inclusion in this very dangerous mission.

As a young child Cephenrene Iaomai watched as her village was attcked and destroyed by a unknown band of murderers. She watched in horror as her family was destroyed as well as everyone in her village. After the attackers left she ran from person to person looking for any who were alive. She found one, her brother but she was unable to do anything to help and he died in her arms.

She wandered in the woods for weeks suviving as best she could, feeding on berries, and to her disgust, the carcases of mostly devovered prey of of animals. It did not take long for her to get very sick from the raw meat she was eating. She lay shaking and convulsing on the ground near death when a shadowy figure happened upon her. The figure picked her up and carried her to his home, where she was miraculously healed.

When she was well enough she shared her story with her healer. He only said one thing. "We must never let this happen again. Do you agree?" This hermit was a wizard who had spent his life leaning the magic art of healing and elemental manipulation. She never wanted to be in a position where she was helpless again and she became his eagar student. She studied with him for years at his sucluded home. Until one day the unthinkable happened. The old hermit passed away from old age. Always a man of few words his last worss to her were, "You are ready, now go heal." Cephenrene was lost without her friend and mentor. His last words echoed in her heart and after a short time she left her home in the woods looking to make use of her hard earned abilities.

She traveled from town to town healing those in need. Living off the generosity of those she helped. She became famous throughout the land and when word got out that Cephenrene was coming to town she was treated like a queen and in many cases was met before she got to town and big celebration followed. Many would call her entrance equal to that of a Lord or King. King Farnsworth heard of her fame and sent for her. With much pomp and gayety she was welcomed into King Farnsworth's land. She met with the King and promptly disappeared. His offer was generous and her heart to help and heal could not turn down the opportunity to help the brave souls who were about to quest into the deepest depths of darkness.
